My First Week At The Wine Society

By

If you can imagine a week of speed dating was combined with your first day at school (where every other student has been at the school seemingly since it was founded) you will start to understand the feelings associated with an induction week at The Wine Society!

Here are a few snap shots one week in:

Alsace tasting with Marcel Orford-Williams – frankly this should be mandatory in all first weeks.

...as should a Vouvray 2009 tasting with Jo Locke MW.

Some people have all the luck! Congratulations!

  2. Sarah,

I recall my first week at the Wine Society back in April 1984 (nearly 30 years ago!) It was a much smaller organisation then but when I joined (not long out of University) it seemed very big and daunting to me. But everyone was very friendly (part form one or two in the cellars who will remain nameless) and I quickly felt part of a family. Tom Wain, Shaun Kiernan, Mark Buckenham, Sebastian Payne were all there then and still are! I am glad the tradition of the picnic lunch continues. All the very best for your future at The Wine Society – it is a very special place for members, suppliers (of which I am now one) and employees.

  3. Chris Parker says:

    Sarah,

Congratulations! It is a pleasure to be working with The Wine Society supplying fine wines of Virginia and look forward to meeting with you again in your new role.

    Regards,

    Chris Parker

    Congratulations on your new role!

  5. Simon Sanders says:

Congratulations Sarah. I’ve been a member for several years now but am not very good at following the blogs (may be a generation thing!) but I did enjoy your first week showing us an inside picture of the Society. Keep it up please.

  6. Norman Gooding says:

Welcome to the team. My wife and I will probably be looking at Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo this coming summer (after a few days in Sonoma) and will let you know if we find anything good at a low dollar price. Don’t hold your breath !!!

  7. Clive Pidgeon says:

Looks like a tough job !

    Any vacancies ?

    Best wishes.

  8. Patty Green says:

    Hi Sarah
Congratulations on your new position! I (and all of my AWE colleagues) are big fans of the Wine Society, and include many WS wines in our events and courses.
Hope to see you soon ; – )
