The Society’s Buyers

Sebastian Payne, MW   Joanna Locke, MW
Sebastian Payne, MW joined The Wine Society in 1973. He became Chief Wine Buyer in 1985 and buys The Society’s Italian, German, Greek, Austrian and Eastern European wines.   Joanna Locke, MW joined The Society in 2004. Her buying responsibilities include Bordeaux, Loire, South Africa and Portugal.
Marcel Orford-Williams   Toby Morrhall
Marcel Orford-Williams has been with The Society since 1986. He buys The Society’s Rhône, Alsace, Beaujolais, Southern French and French Country wines, and is also responsible for Luxembourg, Champagne and sparkling wines.   Toby Morrhall has been a Wine Society buyer since 1992, covering Burgundy, South America and Sherry.
Mark Buckenham   Pierre Mansour
Mark Buckenham joined The Society in 1973. He buys Port, Madeira, beer, liqueurs and spirits, along with The Society’s English wines. He also sources accessories for sideboard and cellar, and oversees Quality Assurance.   Pierre Mansour joined the buying team in 2003, after leading the Tastings and Events Team for three years. He is responsible for Australia, New Zealand, North America, Lebanon and Spain (excluding Sherry).
Janet Wynne Evans    
As well as writing our much-loved Food for Thought column in SocietyNews, Janet Wynne Evans is The Society’s specialist wine manager.   In addition to leading The Society’s Merchandising Team, Louisa Peskett took over the role of food buyer in 2009 to cover the sourcing of food and gift hampers.
