Holiday Snaps

#41

We stocked some Gomez Cruzado last year for the first time - more on the way shortly (in fact @tom & @Cormski will get to taste it at the press tasting in a couple of weeks’ time).

Great photos @JayKay. Looing forward to hearing about your Urbina visit.

Urbina tasting was fabulous! Just like we remembered from the last time which was probably about six years ago. Same crazy line up of wines, in fact even more wines this time around.

We tasted eleven wines. A young unoaked white viura, a garnacha rose, a young unoaked Tempranillo, an oak aged white, two 2011 crianzas (one traditional, one modern in style - differences in amount of ageing in barrel and bottle), three Reservas (two traditional and one modern), one Gran Reserva and one modern wine called Plot (fruitier style, French oak rather than American). These wines are just lovely. OK they don’t have the weight of a Tondonia, for example, but they are delicate, perfumed and typical in style. And a complete bargain.

€3.5 for the young wines, 6.5 for crianza, 12.5 for Reserva, 14.5 for Gran Reserva, 11.5 for Plot. You get a great discount for buying at the vineyard. We were like the proverbial pig in shit Bought reservas, Gran reservas and Plot to bring home and a mix of crianzas and young whites to drink while we continue our holiday over the next few weeks.
